Jackie is baptized!!! There were so many people that came, they couldn't all fit in the relief society room.
we had everyone move into the chapel for the talks, and then we all moved and crowded into the RS room for the baptism and then went back to the chapel for the rest of the program. there was a luncheon provided by the young women. soooo many people. and it worked a lot better than I thought it would have.
I gave the talk on baptism. a high councilman came up to me afterwards, Brother Lacey, and said that it was the best talk he's heard at a baptism on baptism. it makes me think that I should give more thought into teaching/helping people.
Jackie's parents came to the baptism, which is a miracle. Her mom wouldn't let her get baptized - so Jackie waited and got baptized on her 18th birthday.
Surprisingly, her mom and dad came and it was amazing. I think her dad is more open to learning about the gospel. her mom... well, just the fact that she is not keeping Jackie from coming to church is amazing. :)
The opposition actually helped Jackie though. she saw that when she went to other churches, she didn't enjoy it.
She feels at home in the LDS church.
Her mom had her research why people left the church before she joined it.
She did, but she still had the faith that God was directing her to the LDS church because of who she is becoming by being a part of it.
so cool. it was a good day.
