Glorious Spontaneity

The last week or so I have been shown the glories of spontaneity. It's not like I've never been spontaneous. But I let myself get bogged down with all of the things that I need to do. And then I start to hate the daily grind because I feel trapped. It's actually been something I've dealt with a lot. I'd try to find something that would help me feel more alive but it was usually just another thing that I needed to do.

A modern day prophet and president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gordon B. Hinckley has said "Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured".

I'm still going to do all of the things that I need to do. But the way I do it, is going to be more enjoyable. For example, the walk to the temple can be not so fun because the most direct route is along a very busy road with lots of dusty construction. I've decided that I'm going to take the long way there, on a more peaceful route. Will it take twice as long to get there? yes. Will I enjoy my life more? yes. Absolutely worth it.

On another note, I've chosen to serve a full-time mission for the church. I will serve for 18 months at a location that... I don't know yet!!! I've been waiting for my call to come in the mail and it should come any day. Once it comes, I'll give lots of more details. I'll probably have a family member post weekly updates on this blog so at least it'll start getting some use!

My friends, do something that makes you happy. 2 Nephi 2:25 says "Men are, that they might have joy". Make the choice so that you will have joy.

Happy Monday!
