Christmas Solo

We had a great week! Lots of fun times. Desiree and Phoenix have had their baptismal interviews and they're good to go for Saturday! I was nervous, just because of some of the concerns brought up, but i'm SO grateful a representative of the Lord also sees that they are ready to make this covenant. so exciting!!!!

December 9, 2013 - Back on Track for Blog Posts

We had a ward Chistmas party and dinner Saturday night. delicious food and great decorations (which we helped with) and we had lots of investigators and less active members there. it was a great time. :D

I sang in church. I was so nervous!!! I haven't been singing a lot for a while so I was pretty nervous about singing in front of people. Thanks to Mom talking with Sister Hewitt in the ward, I was asked if I would sing in church and it's gotten me singing again after a long time. Even though I was scared, it felt good to sing and share my testimony in that way.

our ward mission leader, Bro Jennings, gave us all gift cards to get pedicures! so that's what we're going to do today. Next Monday is transfers. We don't know what's going to happen so we want to get it done today and do it all together. It's so nice of him and his family. We really do have a great ward.

Germaine told us that he believes the Book of Mormon is the word of God.  I don't think he's ever questioned it. Kimberly says she believes everything we've taught. They are so open. It's now just helping them to have a conviction and dedication to the gospel. Honestly, I'm not sure what to do to help them. Everything else is going to have to be completely led by the Spirit.

I feel like I'm getting better at asking good questions in my prayers and getting specific answers. The trick is that you have to do whatever God tells you, immediately. The other trick is asking the right question. But it's pretty powerful as I'm seeking guidance in my life.

Love you all lots and lots,
Merry Christmas!

Fluffy Fur

Interesting Experiences...

I tried on a real mink fur coat.
it costs enough to have this member
have extra insurance on her house.

Thanksgiving and Red Rock

hello!

i'm beginning to really looking forward to calling home on Christmas. :D

We had a great Thanksgiving dinner at the Gibson's. Green beans wrapped in bacon. I HAVE to get that recipe. it was SO GOOD!  Then we played dominoes. :D it was fun and reminded me of playing as a family when I was a kid...but they played with a wild line... it was cool

Dad, i'll totally watch football with you. i'm starting to understand it better... which makes it more fun to watch hahah

We're doing all we can to help Desiree and Phoenix be ready for their baptism in 2 weeks. There are some things she's working through.  the work has gone well. pluggin along.

Last Monday we went hiking in Red Rock! it was pretty fun. here's some pics!
love ya!

B-Day "Love"

November 25

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes! it was a great birthday. :)
my companions made me a cake I could have and it was so delicious!
they also got me 2 candles I've had my eye on. haha. it was a great day.

it's rained a bunch this week.

we went to the empty nesters FHE. they deep fried a turkey! it was good.

we've had lots of lessons this week. but I can't seem to recall any of the details of those lessons. sorry. :( here's some pictures to make up for it.

Prize Fighting?

November 18

It's been a great week! We started teaching a family. Germaine is a boxer. Kimberly just had a baby a month ago. Lucas is 9. Germaine has a JW background but they wouldn't let him be baptized because he's a prize fighter. They got in contact with the church because they wanted a good activity/program for Lucas. Her mom, Sue, thought of the LDS church and cub scouts. they're all very open to what we have to say and it's good!

Desiree and Phoenix are going to be baptized Dec 14! Phoenix had set a date earlier in the week. We talked with Desiree on Saturday. We shared an article from Elder Holland that we felt we needed to. It really hit home with her. At the end we invited her to be baptized. she said she had anxiety about doing it in the baptismal font. and we told her we had permission to do it in a pool. you know what she said? "Alright. ... Did I just say that?" She then felt warm all over. We had to tell her it was the Spirit. She was happy and laughing. Since then she's decided she can do it in the font. She's been investigating for 2 years. I'm so excited for her!

Wendy and Donny. their daughter, Katie, was baptized when she was in high school. she's now working on her mission papers. Wendy stopped us on the street a while back and asked whey we chose to serve  missions. it's been really fun getting to know her since then. The other night we stopped by to say hello. We discussed inviting her to take the lessons but decided not to because we sometimes feel that she is bothered by us. Well, as we were talking it popped out of my mouth... and she accepted!

We must follow the promptings of the Spirit. He knows what's going on better than we do.

Love you all

You're in my prayers.

Catching UP....

Catching Up for November 2013

November 2
Sister Tuia is being transferred out. Sister Kellar is coming into this trio. I'll be finishing her training. I really didn't think I'd be training again. I really thought Sister Tuia and Sister Bair and I would be together til Christmas. But we roll with the flow in service!

That's me on the far right. Jackie, an investigator, is 2nd to the left from me. She's Japanese-Hawaiian.
We went to an awesome concert...  and now i'm totally out of time. sorry I can't write more. til next time!

November 12

This week has been a weird week. it just has felt different.

Sister Kellar is great. She's 19 and from Ohio.

On Tuesday, we saw Gladys Knight perform. She is a professional singer, and was baptized -  maybe 17 years ago. She now has a choir and sings and shares her testimony. it's meant to be a missionary opportunity and it's fantastic.

We did a lot of service this week for a partially active family. just cleaning the house and organizing. I've become known for organizing in this ward (weird) ... the family all came to church on sunday :)

We also helped with an eagle project and painted the curbs red in a park. it was really fun to do some outside work again.

We also got 4 new investigators yesterday. a family... although they aren't married yet. Kimberly, Germaine, Lucas is 9, and Sophia is 3 weeks old. and her mom, Sue. Lucas wants to go to cub scouts and we asked if they're interested in learning about the church and they said they're very open. Germaine studied Jehovah's witness in the past. He loves reading scriptures. We gave them each their own Book of Mormon. Germaine couldn't put it down. We were just wrapping up the conversation. He was trying to be polite and listen but by the time we were actually leaving, he was in the second chapter. haha. It's so cool to see that excitement to read the book of Mormon. We're seeing them again on Friday.

oh! and phoenix set a baptismal date! December 14. Hopefully we talk with her mom, Desiree, and set a date with her as well. I don't know if she'll be ready by the 14th or not. but I think she could be. it all just depends on what choices she makes.

Jackie is still progessing and preparing for January 18th. We retaught the restoration on sunday, she already knew most of it. haha. she's so down to earth, I love it.

Courtney has asked for some space from the church but we're not entirely sure why. I don't like this situation at all. I felt so sure that I needed to teach her... it's a bit confusing to me. we feel like we need to talk with her in person and just ask if she's prayed about it. we'll see how it goes.

Morgan and his 6 year old sister came to church this week. it was Maisy's first time at church.

Picture: The stone moved... we figured we would put a pass along card there so when someone picks up the stone, they'd find Jesus. :D
My brother Mike says: "It's like a metaphor for Easter morning. Very deep."

Ummm i'm turning 24 next week.... and I feel like i'm old!  what the...?!?! where has time gone?! :) ok. I'll stop freaking out now.  love y'all!
