The Temple

Saturday morning. College student. You'd think I would have slept in 'til 2pm. I probably would have. But today I went with my friend, Leah, to the temple.

Temples are literally houses of the Lord. It's a place of worship for worthy members of the church. We also make promises with God in the temple. It's a sacred place. Some people think it's super secret because not everybody can go inside. But it's only limited because you need to be prepared to make those promises with God, or covenants, and to learn all that is available to learn.

The temple is a place of learning. Today I went with a couple of questions in mind about my near future, like whether it's wise to work this next semester and that sort of thing. I was wondering why I wasn't finding anything I loved and why my class schedule just wasn't working out. As I was praying and contemplating the scripture came to mind that says, "Peace, Be still." It's like "Hey, calm down. I'm here. The right thing will come. Be patient."

I left the temple feeling happier, lighter, and more optimistic than usual. I kept telling Leah, "Life is good... like, really! Life is really good!!!" She laughed for a while. :)

I'm a student at Brigham Young University (BYU). It's a private school owned by the church. So, logically, everything is at standards with the church's teachings. There's a bunch of clubs that are all uplifting and good. I'm a member of the BYU Swing Kids club. I LOVE SWING!!!!!! (Yes, Mormons can dance. Remember Benji from So You Think You Can Dance? We do believe in keeping it clean. No freak dancing for us.) I'm on the intermediate swing team. We had the best practice last night. :) We learned lots of cool 30's Charleston moves. (The kicking dance.) I was completely exhausted and it was so much fun!!! What's even better is that we're doing Charleston to a hip hop song. Here's our inspiration: *sigh* I'm super excited for this new routine.
